When you think of the word “entrepreneur”, what’s the first word that comes to mind?
Is it “success”? Or “startup”? Or “money”? Or maybe “innovation”?
You never think “failure”, do you?
But the funny thing is, “failure” describes entrepreneurship much better than all those other words put together! When you’re an entrepreneur, failure is your constant companion – especially if you’re successful.
Seems a bit contradictory, doesn’t it? A lot contradictory!
Well, it isn’t. Successful entrepreneurs fail often – much more often than failed entrepreneurs – because they put themselves out there all the time. They try new things, again and again.
Sometimes those things work out, so we hear about them, and associate them with success. Yet, much more often, things don’t work out.
And that’s where the difference between failed entrepreneurs and successful ones comes into play… Failed entrepreneurs give up after a couple of tries. Successful ones don’t.
They move on and do something else. Again, and again, and again.
And eventually, they succeed.
In today’s episode of Get Genius podcast, we have a guest whose complete list of failures would be too long for this show, as he himself admitted on record. Just think about it.
But you definitely have heard of at least one of his successes!
- His career started by working for Tony Robbins. After that, he’s worked with CBS Sportsline, NBC Internet, Fox Sports, and numerous other huge brands.
- He’s published a bestselling book called “Launch!” that teaches aspiring entrepreneurs how to take their business from idea to market in 90 days.
- In 2006, he founded a startup called Smart Charter, which was later acquired by Richard Branson (yes, that one).
- Currently, he co-hosts a terrific, and ridiculously fun, show called “Business and Burgers”.
Of course, we’re talking about the one and only Scott Duffy!
This week, Summer interviews Scott for some actionable insights about building and running a profitable business. They also discuss failure, entrepreneur’s #1 job, being a goof, and all manner of other fascinating topics.
