We can all agree that the world right now is chock-full of self-styled gurus, motivational speakers, and inspirational “leaders”, all spreading the same generic message…

“Stay positive!”

“Eliminate your insecurities!”

“Unleash your full potential!”

Of course, all these things sound terrific in theory. But whenever you hear them from a tall, rich, flawlessly white-toothed speaker with hundreds of millions to his name, you can’t help but think, “Easy for you to say, Mr. Perfect!”

The truth is, most “gurus” are too unrelatable to motivate anyone, or be effective teachers — at least for those of us who are constantly struggling with self-doubt and insecurities.

We look at hundreds of super-successful entrepreneurs, activists, investors, athletes — some of them not even 18 years old — and we think, “How could I possibly live up to this standard? I’m [insert an excuse here]!”

So maybe, just maybe, in order for the message of self-love, confidence, and positivity to really connect and bring out the best in us, we need a different kind of guru.

Someone like Sean Stephenson, who is one of the most extraordinary speakers and authors out there. Which is why we are super-excited to introduce him as our guest for today’s episode of Get Genius podcast!

If you don’t know who Sean is, here’s a bit of background on his extraordinary life.

  • Sean was born with a rare genetic disorder that stunted his growth and made his bones extremely brittle. His bones would break from any sudden movement, even something as natural as sneezing. Despite that, Sean set out to help people, and immersed himself in the study of psychology.
  • Sean has created a remarkable speaking career for himself. He spoke in 15 countries, 47 states, and has been inspiring millions of people — including Richard Branson, President Clinton, and the Dalai Lama — for 22 years now.
  • As a therapist, Sean guides his patients through unique 12-hour sessions, helping them overcome insecurities and achieve breakthroughs in their public speaking abilities. His book, “Get Off Your But”, is an international bestseller, published in 10 languages.

Sean’s biggest goal is to eliminate insecurities in all of humanity! And he knows more than most what it’s like to battle insecurities and self-doubt on a daily basis.
