Generating high quality leads is the number one challenge facing most online marketers.

How do you stand out from the crowd and convince people to enter into some kind of relationship with your company?  How do you get that person to take the plunge and consider YOU to fulfill their need?

We offer you a few strategies worth exploring, not only because they’re freaking rad and are proven to work, but because most online marketers aren’t utilizing them effectively.  You want your voice to get heard and establish a meaningful connection with prospective buyers.

Here are three ways to do it.

3 strategies

1. Get featured in the editorial section on high-traffic blog

People tend to engage with content and brands they discover through people they know, respect, and trust.  That’s why getting a positive mention on a popular high-traffic blog relevant to your industry can be a great way to build credibility and attract a surge of interested visitors to your site.

However, there’s a big difference between an ad or a sponsored post and getting mentioned in a piece of editorial content.  If people think you’ve paid for your spot, they’ll be less likely to pay attention to it.

So, how do you convince busy editors to mention you or your products in their editorial (e.g., not paid for) content?

  • Offer blog owners a free sample of what you offer.
  • Send out a press release with breaking news their readers are going to want to know.
  • Volunteer to write a piece of free content they can use on their site.

If you prove to them that you can give their readers something they will truly appreciate, they will be happy to take you up on your offer.  The links and extra traffic you get will be worth every word!

2. Use Slide Share to get your message out

Widely considered to be the “YouTube for PowerPoint presentations,” Slide Share gets 60 million visitors a month and is one of the top 200 most-visited sites in the world.  Yet it’s one of the most underutilized marketing tools online.

By posting visually compelling slide presentations that offer powerful information your prospects are looking for, you can get your message in front of a whole new audience.  This can also be a great way to repurpose already written content, leverage what you’ve already invested in.  Be sure to include a strong call to action at the end that compels people to visit your site and download an irresistible free resource in exchange for their email to start growing a stronger relationship with them right away.

3. Become a key voice in the online conversation

Too many businesses regard social media as a broadcast system, where they post their own messages but don’t pay much attention to what other people are talking about (unless it involves their own products or services).

In order to create the kind of social presence that makes people visit your website and trust you enough to hand over their contact info in exchange for a free download, you have to do more than broadcast your message.  You have to join the conversation and have the kind of voice that makes people sit up and take notice.

So how do you do this?  Use social media monitoring tools to track what people are saying in your industry. If people are looking for information or a solution to a problem, give it to them or tell them where they can find it.

Whenever you find an intriguing conversation taking place, dive into it and share your thoughts.  Don’t be afraid to be controversial – the opinions that stand out are the ones that get noticed.  (As long as you’re not being offensive, it’s all good.)  When you come across opportunities to direct people toward content on your own site, go for it.  As long as it’s appropriate to the situation, people will appreciate it.

These are just three little, itty bitty ways you can help increase highly qualified traffic to your site.  There are many more.
