We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again. If you want to be at your best – as an entrepreneur, a partner, a parent, and a human being – it helps to stay healthy.

And when you think “healthy lifestyle,” diet is probably the first thing that comes to mind.

Sadly, healthy eating is ridiculously hard to figure out. If you google “best diet” right now, you will see millions of people on thousands of websites arguing vehemently about The One True Diet.

Even nutritional science experts contradict each other at times! How is a layperson supposed to navigate a gazillion diets, supplements, recipes, and whatnot, and be expected to make good decisions about their diet?

This is the question we’ll try to answer today on the Get Genius podcast – along with our guest, Dr. Glenn Livingston.

Dr. Livingston is a veteran psychologist – and a long-time CEO of a multi-million dollar consulting firm, which has worked with several Fortune 500 food companies.

Dr. Glenn has spent decades trying to understand how people might eat healthier. His work goes straight to the core of the issue, exploring the psychology behind binge-eating, stress-eating, overeating, and so on.

Dr. Livingston has studied this problem extensively – both with his own patients, and through a self-funded research program with over 40,000 participants.

(Just for perspective, large-scale nutritional studies rarely have more than 10,000.)

Most importantly, Dr. Livingston himself is a testament that his findings and methods actually work! He has gone from obese and food-obsessed to having a normal, healthy weight – and a much more light-hearted relationship with food. Dr. Glenn’s transformational journey is remarkable, and he will share it on the podcast.

Dr. Livingston and Summer will also tackle one of the biggest issues around healthy eating – if you’ve spent your whole life obsessing about food… how do you stop?

Too many people, especially in the US, have a love-hate relationship with food. We eat to feel better. We eat to calm our nerves. We eat to distract ourselves. We eat to reward ourselves. We snack on junk food out of habit. We eat when we aren’t hungry. The list goes on.

No wonder most diets don’t work! The food is not the problem – our behavior around it is the real culprit. And that’s what we’ll try to fix (or begin to fix, at least) on this week’s Get Genius.
