Can you name what your company stands for?

How about what you stand against (which can be just important)?

What kind of message is your brand broadcasting to the world? What’s your mission?

And can you articulate how you’re different from your competition? Most importantly, can your customers even tell the difference?

Great branding can help you not only answer these questions, but also communicate them to your target market in a way that’s impossible to ignore. Through your design, your messaging, your positioning – in short, through everything you do.

And yet, most entrepreneurs treat branding as something that’s either:

  • Unhelpful – like trying to befriend a horse by gifting it a one-year subscription to The New Yorker. Don’t ask us how we came up with that simile! The truth is too sad.

  • Premature – as in, it’s something that big corporations do when they earn enough of a reputation to protect… but smaller businesses don’t need to bother with.

Both of these are misconceptions. First of all, you can benefit from awesome branding even if you’re a small company employing 1-3 people. And second of all, having a remarkable brand translates directly into more customers, more revenue, and more freedom for you as a business owner.

But don’t take our word for it – even though you could, seeing as we’re a small but memorable brand with a specific message and personality!

No: instead, you want to listen to our guest on this week’s Get Genius podcast… Pia Silva!
